Online Instruction
This project is developing online instruction using an eCollege system. The project including designing and developing a three-week course with all of its components. The duties of this project included:
· Creating and uploading a PowerPoint presentation
· Designing and developing a three week course
· Developing online assessment measures
· Creating evaluation forms for the course
· Creating a comprehensive syllabus and directions
· Adding audio and video to course
· Incorporating motivational strategies in the course
· Creating effective objectives, lectures, and threaded discussions
In order to create this online instruction I learned the basic concepts for effectively developing online instruction. The first step was to decide on a course, textbook, topics for units, and the course shell for instruction. All of the components of the online instruction was created in Word documents and transferred over into eCollege. The parts that were created were a course checklist, ARCS chart, class syllabus, introduction video, directions for course, webquest, and an academic contract. Also, objectives, lectures, threaded discussions, resources, quizzes, audio, and PowerPoint presentation were created for each unit.
My role in this project was that I designed and developed all components of the online instruction for the course. By doing this project, I learned that there are numerous parts that must be developed to have an effective online instruction course. This kind of project is time-consuming and tedious. It has taught me to not procrastinate and constantly work on improving the course. In addition, I learned to make the course motivational, interesting, and interactive for the target audience. This will help the students to have a successful online experience while they are learning the materials for the course. The only thing that I would do differently is to make sure that students do an evaluation of the strengths and weaknesses of the course and its components and that I use that information to make improvements for the course.
